Your Voice in History: Oral History Recordings Project

A component of Charleston’s first local historic district known as The Block. Through this project the West Virginia Center for African American Art & Culture and Garnet hopes to capture voice and or video recordings of the life, times, and successes of Garnet High School graduates and others in and around the Charleston community. Life within the neighborhoods of Sentz St. to Wilson Hollow or throughout the Triangle District made you the incredible person that you are and the valuable lessons that you learned can be shared with others through this recording process.

Your history is important to all of us and we want to preserve your story in the annals of time for scholarly research and study for future generations. Prepared questions and release form will be made available. Please bring historic documentation and photos for on site scanning and or copying by the West Virginia Archives and History department. Finished copies of the interview in the form of CD or DVD will be presented to you and also be stored at the West Virginia Division of Archives & History.

If you are interested, seventy (70) years or older contact Anthony Kinzer Sr. at (304) 346-6339 or anthony@cacwv.org
